You don't see a group representing your interests? START ONE UP!
Here are some guidelines to help you get started. An AWC Bern Interest Group will have a minimum of three members.
Members of the group may consist of AWC Bern members and non-members. The official contact person for the group must be an AWCB member. Frequency of group meetings is up to its members.
If you don't already know of two other people interested in joining your group, the Interest Group Chairperson will help you "advertise" your interest in starting up. In this way, a list of possible future Interest Groups will always be posted on this page. Additions to this list are always welcome. When a new interest group has a minimum of three people signed up, the Interest Group Chair will contact the members to arrange an organizational meeting. To let other AWC members know about your group, e-mail the Interest Group Chair to post your group's information and schedule on our site.
Below is a list of some suggested groups which have been proposed recently. They can’t become active until you and two other people sign up. Contact the Interest Group Chairperson if you’re interested. (The names of these groups are just for point of reference. Group members are free to change the name at will.)
Politically Speaking - In this election year, this group will explore State and Federal candidates for political office in the U.S. This is not a policital discussion of our own views, but rather the views of candidates in our respective voting districts to help each of us to cast an intelligent vote.
Family Group – Each family could take a turn at planning a social outing for the group. The group will make up its own guidelines. It would be great if the outing/event had a North American slant to it. How about a Family Softball Game in the Spring?
In and Around Bern – Members will take in the sights and events of festivals, concerts, excursions and whatever else they can find within Bern or far away. Ever wanted to go wine tasting in Italy, now you can enjoy this with friends. Or, how about organizing tickets to one of the shows on DSF? Anything goes, only the members can decide.
Apple of my Eye – Got a MAC, iTUNES or iPOD? Apple products are everywhere. This group will help each other understand and operate various products. How much do you know about podcasting? Want to learn? Let’s help each other!
Trail Blazers – a hiking and/or biking group.
Thun Treff – This group will meet for lunch or dinner in and around Thun and Interlaken. Take time to make new friends with AWCB members living near or in The Bernese Oberland. There could also be a Solothun and Fribourg Treff. AWCB members are everywhere!
We can form a group based on just about any subject or interest. Are you ready to meet new friends?
Contact the Interest Group Chairperson.
